Pitch Engine — Guide

Microphone & Recording

REC — records and saves. Audio + notes + metrics saved to history.
LIVE — analyzes without saving. Ideal for quick practice.
UPLOAD — upload an audio file (mp3, wav) for analysis.

Note Staff

Highlights the currently sung note with a colored column.
Green dot on top = sung in tune (within 15¢ deviation).
Red dot = sung off-key (over 15¢).
Motion line inside the column = current cents deviation.
Previous notes remain faintly visible (ghost trail).
Each note has a color based on its key (C=red, D=orange, ...).

Live Analysis

Stability — how steadily you hold a note (0–100%).
Breath — breath support (0–100%). Shows 0 when silent.
Resonance — harmonic purity (0–100%).
Vibrato — oscillation detection (0–100%).

Tuning Lane

Shows tuning deviation in cents.
Ball in center = in tune (±10¢).
Ball to the left = flat.
Ball to the right = sharp.
Green ball = in tune, red = off-key, gray = silence.

Spectrogram

Real-time visual frequency spectrum display.
Highlights the currently sung frequency and its harmonics.
Useful for visual pitch and vocal timbre control.

Audio Meters

VU meter — instantaneous input signal level.
RMS — average signal level (perceived loudness).
Clip indicator — red when overdriven (distortion).
Ideal for setting proper microphone gain.

LUFS Meter

Loudness measurement per LUFS standard.
Integrated — average loudness of the entire recording.
Short-term — average over the last 3 seconds.
Momentary — instantaneous peak loudness.

Phase Scope

Displays phase relationship between left and right channels.
Lissajous figure — circle = stereo, line = mono, horizontal = phase shift.
Useful for checking phase coherence of a recording.

Notes Pad

Quick practice notes directly on the workspace.
Text auto-saves to localStorage.
Ideal for jotting down observations during practice.

Workspace

All panels can be dragged by their header and placed anywhere.
Resize panels by dragging right, bottom, or bottom-right edge.
Panels snap to a 20px grid on release (magnetic snap).
Red glow when overlapping — panel can still be placed.
Green glow = position is clear.
Hide any panel by clicking the eye icon in its header.

Components (ON/OFF)

In the right panel under Components, toggle panel visibility.
Notes, Spectrogram, Live Analysis, Notepad, Audio Meters, Phase, LUFS, Teleprompter, Metronome.
Click ↺ (bottom-right of workspace or in Components header) to reset all panels to default positions.
On first launch all components are visible in a 4-column layout.

Metronome

Built-in metronome as a workspace panel.
Toggle on/off in Components.
Ideal for rhythm exercises and tempo training.

Teleprompter

Standalone workspace panel (not in the right panel).
Load text from My Projects (folder icon) or paste your own.
Speed slider — scroll speed (10–500%).
Font size — text size (10–24px).
Play/Stop — automatic text scrolling during practice.
Note timeline — piano roll of recently sung notes (6s window).
Tuning ball — current tuning deviation.
Metrics S/B/R/V — stability, breath, resonance, vibrato.

My history — all REC recordings with replay.
My REC audio — same as history.
My analysis — average metrics from all recordings.
